Luis Comas Martínez de Tejada (Barcelona, 1960) has been appointed as SEAT Vice-President for Legal Affairs and Governance effective 1 April 2017. From this new vice-presidency, Comas will head the company's legal affairs, as well as the area of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), which was created in 2011 to strengthen business activity development in a rigorous, transparent and honest manner. Comas will continue to serve as General Counsel of SEAT and the Volkswagen Group in Spain and will retain his responsibility as Secretary and Legal Counsel of the SEAT Board of Directors.
SEAT's new Vice-President holds a law degree from the University of Barcelona and postgraduate degrees from the Institut d'Études Européennes of the Université Libre de Bruxelles and from the Harvard Law School in Boston. Comas began his collaboration with SEAT and Volkswagen in 1994 as an external lawyer and secretary of the company’s Board of Directors. He later assumed the responsibility of the Volkswagen Group in Spain's legal and corporate affairs and the post of director-secretary of the SEAT, S.A., Volkswagen Audi España, S.A. and Volkswagen Navarra, S.A. Boards of Directors.
Comas takes up the new post as the company enters a consolidation phase and during the year of its biggest product offensive.
Luis Comas was a managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, responsible first for Landwell-PwC Spain and later global managing partner of PwC Legal. Comas has also worked on the board of large companies including Hilton International Hotels, ITT Automotive, Interpublic Group of Companies, Gedas Iberia or The Lowe Group.
Comas' appointment as Vice-President for Legal Affairs and Governance coincides with SEAT's biggest product offensive and the company’s consolidation phase, after closing last year with the best financial results in its history, with a record operating profit of 143 million euros.
